Today, I was thrilled to be able to speak to the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce about what makes our firm special. Below is a video and transcript of the speech.
Hello everybody! Welcome! I gather there are a few of our legislators here today. I'm not one of them. You know, I ran for the Senate this year - and lost. So I look at all of the things that are happening, the issues they are dealing with and I think: Wow. Did I dodge a bullet. But beyond that, I am filled with the utmost gratitude that they choose to put their lives on hold to tackle all of those issues. Thank you all for serving.

DAPCPA turns 21 this month and I am happy we get to celebrate it with you. So on finally reaching maturity, I wanted to share what I believe continues to make our firm special.
---
DAPCPA is special for a lot of reasons. First, we always strive to be the best in our field. There is no substitute for technical expertise and accuracy in our profession.
---
Second. My partners and teammates have made an iron-clad commitment to seeing every engagement through to the end and doing so in an efficient and timely manner.
---
And there are many other things that set us apart, but really what drives us and our success is the value we place on each of the people we deal with. Clients, friends , whether large or small, each and every one carries immeasurable value. I look at the long hours spent by my team, Tyler, Toni, Rachael, Jonath - and I know they don't do it for me. They certainly don't do it for the money. They do it for the clients and for their desire to help them be their absolute best. I will repeat what I said last year: Our story is written in the lives of the clients, the employees and the community we call family. We celebrate their victories and we mourn their losses. And it is an honor to be part of their lives and to serve them all.
---
So as a firm, our resolve is clear - whether it is Jonath's work with the Boy's and Girl's club or on the Hospital Board, Toni Marie's work with Rotary, or the more than 2,000 hours of community service, no cost or low cost pro-bono activities. It is our goal to make the communities in which we live, better for our being here.
---
So thank you for being here today and letting us be a part of your lives.
---
I will leave you with this: and this is something I try to impart to each person I deal with. But it also applies to all of my great competitors in the accounting field, whom I have the utmost respect and admiration for and all of the legislators and other elected officials. This is especially important for them to know and to remember right now.
---
There are moments in time where you become the most important person in someone's life. The moment may be brief, or it may me drawn out over minutes, hours, days, weeks, years or a lifetime. But however short or long the moment, never take for granted the impact it has on them. For those moments, whether associated with victory or defeat, resonate not only in their lives, but in ours. And those moments create and define us. Us as individuals, us as family, us as a firm, us as a profession, us as a community and us as a nation. Those moments build our legacy.
Come to terms with the fact that each and every one of you is extraordinary and wake up each day determined to live an extraordinary life. Thank you, God Bless you and enjoy the lunch!
